"Tell your current mentor what's going on," replies Soaring Eagle. "Let's go!"

Lapping Wave bounds into the clearing, to find her current mentor basking in the sun, being the old and lazy wolf he was. "Badger Fang," she calls. The black and white wolf with long fangs turns and glances at her. "Whatcha want?" he snarls. "Nothing," says Lapping Wave, whisking her tail, feeling quite annoyed. This wolf has been grumpy and lazy ever since his brother, Bramble Patch, had been killed in the bear attack that had wounded both her parents when she was a tiny cub. "I just want to tell you that Soaring Eagle will be training me now, because I can see Lupa's Scales of Right and Wrong!" Badger Fang shoots Soaring Eagle a funny look. "Is that so?" The Alpha Female nods. Badger Fang rolls onto his back like a dog waiting for a tummy rub, looking upside down at Soaring Eagle. "She can be a pain in the tail. Her with her scales and such." Soaring Eagle glares at him. "She's a sweet and sensible young wolf, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's made beta some day. Maybe even Alpha!" "She has the makings of an omega!" scoffs Badger Fang. Soaring Eagle bears her teeth. "I'll take her anyway. This is the last you'll ever see of her." "Good." Soaring Eagle wraps her tail around Lapping Wave's shoulders. "Then it's settled." she says curtly. "She's my trainee now." Then she and Lapping Wave leave, leaving Badger Fang alone, later to regret that he ever said what he said that day, and to wish he never let Lapping Wave go.

"Down to business," begins Soaring Eagle. "Do not tell ANYONE else ANYTHING about the scales from this point onwards." "But... won't that cut me off from the rest of the Pack?" asks Lapping Wave. "What they don't know won't hurt them," says Soaring Eagle. "And I mean NOBODY. You're in danger from now until you die. Canis will be after you, and he will do almost anything to kill you."

Lapping Wave feels her pelt bristling. "I shall fight Canis so long as I shall live." she vows bravely. "And I shall use the scales only for the greater good." She glances at Soaring Eagle. "Now what?"

"Um..." she begins. "That is an excellent question."

Lapping Wave wriggles in excitement. "Can we go hunting? Please, please, PLEASE?!"

"Erm... I don't think so." says Soaring Eagle. "Why?" asks Lapping Wave. "Well..." begins Soaring Eagle. "I haven't even told Sky Deamon yet, but the Xarinda Pack has been taking our hunting territory." "I didn't know that the hunting was divided into territories." replies Lapping Wave, looking puzzled. "Your mentor should have taught you that." says Soaring Eagle. " There are five sections to the hunting grounds, and each belongs to a different Pack. See the attachment to see what it looks like. Latley the Xarindas have been stealing our territory." Attachments:

Lapping Wave looks curiously at her scales, which are tilted to wrong. "Then we must attack the Xarinda Pack to win back our territory!" The scales tit to right. "Those dog-brains won't steal from us ever again! They won't know what hit them! The Xarinda Pack must fall! They will never dare to challenge us for our own territory again!" The scales still tilt to right.

"You may be right, but we can't obliterate their Pack!" all the Packs must live in harmony whenever possible... or at least that's what my scales say." says Soaring Eagle. "But you're right. We must win back our territory."

Lapping Wave cocks her head. "My scales say that we must do whatever it takes without harming their cubs to win back our territory. We may not live in harmony with them for a little bit, but we'll forgive each other eventually." A scent wreathes around her scales, and she reads it aloud. "If we must fight unfairly, so be it." The scales tilt right. "We must not harm their cubs, but we must fight hard to win back our land." Lapping Wave is just getting warmed up, and her scales still tell her she's right. "We must prepare our wolves for battle."

"Yes, but my scales say that if we destroy one of the Packs, it will negativley affect the others." replies Soaring Eagle

Lapping Wave looks offended. "We won't destroy them." she sniffs. "We'll just shake them up a little. Give 'em something to remember, but never truly harm them, let alone destroy them."

"And how do you know that they won't get carried away?" asks Soaring Eagle. "I've seen it happen before. There was a battle with the Zarnqwaakti a while ago when I was Beta, where some of the harsher wolves got a bit... carried away." "What do you mean?" asks Lapping Wave. "I mean we found their High-Ranks in a puddle of blood," she replies. Lapping Wave looks slightly sick. "The wolves responsible were thrown into the Pit of Shame by my parents; Hooting Owl and Hunting Hawk, the Alpha Female and Male (respectively) of the day, but there's a rumor they've broken out... and are currently hiding somewhere in the Pack, hidden and unknown about," answers Soaring Eagle. Lapping Wave now looks horrified. "You mean... Red Willow... or another one of my sibilings could be the one who killed the Zarnqwaakti High-Ranks?!" asks Lapping Wave. "No." says Soaring Eagle immidiatley. "There was more than one wolf who murdered the Alphas, Beta, and Gamma. Plus, these wolves would be older than me... and there are hundreds of wolves who fit that criteria! I'm only a couple of years older than you!" "Then it could be... " begins Lapping Wave. "...pretty much anybody. Yes," replies Soaring Eagle.

Lapping Wave feels sick, but she wears a brave face. "We'll find them," she swears. "We'll find, them, and throw them in the Pit of..." then she realizes that if they got out the first time, why shouldn't they be able to again? She doesn't want to harm any wolf, but... "We'd have to kill them," she whispers. Soaring Eagle nods grimly. "But I don't want to kill any wolf!" Lapping Wave bursts out, feeling frightened. "I don't want to be a killer!" For the first time in her life, and for a scary moment, the scales tilted to wrong.
