Bristling, Star charges after her. "That's a waste of prey!" she snarls, glaring at Sunny. "Number one rule of the winter: NEVER WASTE PREY!"

The next day Sunny wakes up and stalks out of her den. She kills a rabbit with a quick nip and eats. She wanders off, if I look for a fight, Star might respect me, Sunny thinks. She sees a black loner with grey eyes, she stalks the black wolf, it starts eating the bits of rabbit she had left, she leaps from the bushes and pin the wolf to the ground. She makes a show by scaring the young wolf, "That's MY prey, get out of my territory," she lets her intruder go, and goes off to hunt a bigger meal. She kills a young bison and eats it. She feels something strange, the need too lead, lead a pack.

"I saw you scare that young wolf," Star greets her friend. "Good job. But remember, your territory only goes out so far. For instance," she adds, "you're on Akuma's territory right now." Sunny looks surprised. "Don't worry," Star reassures the golden and white she-wolf. "You're with me, and Akuma's my mate, so you're safe. But remember to keep your fur bristling, your ears laid back, your hackles raised, and your fangs bared when dealing with an intruder. But nice job. I think you're ready for some battle training."

Sunny looks at Star with a snide grin, "should have done it weeks ago," she snarls. Sunny was determined to make Star look like a cub, for once. "Do your best on me," barks Star. Sunny springs onto Star's back and claws blindly. Star throws her off easily, but the second time Sunny draws blood. Star leaps out of the way before Sunny makes her final blow. "To predictable," growls Star trying to cover the pain and the new small nick in her left ear. "Pretty good, better than the other wolf's encounter," Star leaps onto Sunny's back and with a kick, they both go flying into the river.

Swimming to smoothly to shore, Star shakes her fur. "Help!" Sunny's howl catches her off guard. Spotting a scrap of fur in the river, she swims over and grabs her friend's scruff, but Sunny's weight pulls them both down. Doing her best to drag Sunny from the river, Star spots a large branch fallen over the river. She tosses Sunny to the branch, and Sunny clings desperately with her teeth. Swimming to shore, Star dashes over to Sunny, and pulls her to safety. "You idiot!" she screeches, her fear turning to anger. "You could have gotten us both killed!" she cuffs the she-wolf's ear, making a nick. "We still have a lot of work to do. And stay away from the river!"

"Now, try an attack on this deer," woofs Star. Sunny leaps onto its back and bights its neck. "If that were a real wolf, it would have seen you and attacked," growled Star. Sunny tried again, she crept up silently and pounced and made a sharp quick bight to the neck. "Better," barks Star. "Try it on me," Star says. Sunny leaps and lands on Stars back, Star trys to fling her off, but Sunny clings on, she gives a soft nip to Stars neck and jumps off. "Good, Star barks now try defending an attack. Star leaps onto Sunny's back, Sunny and Star wrestle around the forest until, with a clean swipe Star jumps neatly off her back.

"Now I'm attacking you," Star growls. "You won't know when I'm coming, so be prepared. You're the defense." Star bounds off into the woods, and stalks Sunny through the undergrowth. At first, Sunny seems alert, with her ears pricked. After about five minutes of waiting in a clump of brambles, the golden and white she-wolf, let her guard down and began to relax, and Star silently erupts from the brambles, neatly twisting in midair and lands squarely on Sunny's shoulders, delivering a few quick blows and leaping off so Sunny can't react fast enough to throw her off. Spinning around in the air so she lands facing Sunny, her friend leaps off the ground at Star with her big paws outstretched. Star flips onto her back and stretches her legs out with her paws ready for the impact. Before Sunny hits her, Star grabs onto the she-wolf with her paws and flips her onto her back, hearing Sunny land with a painful thud. Sunny flails her big paws, and catches Star's muzzle, causing the white she-wolf to leap back in surprise. Sunny lunges for Star's paws in attempt to trip her, but Star leaps up into the air and lands hard on Sunny's big paw, yet is careful not to hurt her friend. Clumsily, Sunny scrambles to her paws, and Star lunges them, outstretching a foreleg and sweeping Sunny off her paws. Sunny stumbles, and Star seizes the chance, knocks Sunny to the ground by jabbing her Achilles' Tendon, and pins her, distributing her weight evenly so Sunny can't throw her off even when she slackens, and can do nothing but lash her tail. "I won, I believe," she murmurs.

"We'll take it slow," Star barks. "I WANT TO WIN! I WANT TO LEARN FAST!" Sunny howled. Star looks at her in surprise.

"You will learn fast," Star growls. "But as fast as you learn, there's still so much, so you'll be in training for a very long time."

Star dashes off into the woods. The next day Sunny wakes up and quickly leaves Scuro to find Star. She finds her sitting by the river. Sunny smothers herself in mud and pounces on Star, she knocks Star into the river and realizes how much more experienced she had gotten.

Star swims smoothly out, rears up, and knocks Sunny into the river. Sunny howls as she clumsily loses her footing and falls, then grabs onto a fallen tree branch the size of a log floating down the river. She tries to pull herself up, but accidentally flips the branch and gives up, clinging on for dear life. Star runs along side the river, then takes a flying leap, landing gracefully on the branch, and sits down lightly. Looking down at the soaked white and gold she-wolf, she growls, "Never mess with the stronger wolf."

Sunny glared at Star. If she did die, the cubs would to. She flung herself onto the tree branch, and dove for a large rock in the middle of the river. She landed clumsily and sat there. Star bounded to shore. "While you're out there, I might as well teach you how to swim," Star barks. "Jump in and kick your legs like you're running," Star informed her. Sunny jumps into the icey water. The cubs way her down but she strugles to shore.

Star swims to shore, then notices Sunny's swollen belly. "You're expecting cubs, aren't you?" she growls.

"Um...NO!" Sunny barks. "What, did you swallow a deer whole!?" Star replied. Sunny was stumped. "Yeah!" she replied, she immediately knew that was the wrong choice because Star replied. "You swallowed that deer alive? WOW!" Sunny looked down at her cubs, they were squirming around like worms. Sunny knew that this lie would never come to an end if she didn't tell her best friend. "A few, I guess," she replied Star quietly. "I thought so," she growled. Sunny waited for the part were Star would rip her to shreds, but it never came. "What about the part were you kill me?" Sunny asked. Sunny lay down beside Star. "I'm a mate too you know? I have to admit, it is nice to have one," Star replied. Sunny and Star talk until sunset. Sunny gets up and thunders into the brush. When she get to her shelter, Scuro isn't there. Did he ditch me? Sunny thought. She lay down in dismay and looked at her cubs she soon fell into a restless sleep.

The next morning, Star finds Sunny. "Let's stop training until your cubs are born," she says gently.
